Where is progress happening in educational equity—and what’s holding it back? In this interactive workshop, educators will engage in an Affinity Mapping Protocol to explore three central questions: Where is there momentum toward educational equity and justice? What conditions make it possible? What obstacles stand in the way? Through collaborative discussion and visual organization of ideas, participants will surface patterns, identify shared challenges, and gain new insights from diverse perspectives. By the end of the session, attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the key factors shaping equity efforts in their schools, districts, and states—and actionable next steps to support meaningful change. Please note: This workshop is being facilitated as part of a research project in partnership with Nellie Mae Education Foundation and FSG to explore K-12 systems transformation throughout New England.
Participants will:
- Engage in an Affinity Mapping Protocol to analyze trends in educational equity and justice.
- Identify key conditions that support or hinder systems-level transformation.
- Learn from peers’ experiences to uncover shared challenges and opportunities.
- Develop concrete ideas and next steps to advance equity efforts in their own contexts.
